I call myself a Type 4 as I have a looser curl on top (4a), 4c on the sides and 4b at the back. I don’t try to avoid ssk’s as they’re almost inevitable with curly/coily hair, but stretched and protective styles prevent the hair from tangling on itself. proper detangling and minimal handling should help too!
